Situated about half a mile from the main A303 London to Cornwall road, Old Harp House is a Grade 2 listed Somerset farmhouse that dates back to the early seventeenth century. This substantial family home has recently been extensively restored to its former glory and boasts an original Tudor hamstone fireplace in the drawing room, a magnificent inglenook in the kitchen and an external stone turret that houses an unusual stone winder staircase.
Old Harp House is in a quiet and peaceful location in the wonderful, friendly Somerset village of Over Stratton. The house and garden is surrounded by acres of apple orchards where a wealth of wildlife including badgers, deer, buzzards and owls, can be seen. 'Doing Our Bit for the Planet'Heating and hot water are produced by a geo-thermal ground loop system running round (and one metre under) the garden, which transfers warmth from the ground through a heat pump to provide our hot water and central heating. We try to be carbon neutral (our electricity comes from a ‘green’ source). The house is also ventilated by means of a warm air recovery and recycling system.
